Frequently Asked Questions
What makes you different?
I work in an integrative coaching style, incorporating a range of unique tools and approaches, and am so excited to see the shifts in my clients through being at the cutting edge in offering the Psylogia experience.
I aim to set you up for life with a new way of being, teaching you new ways to manage your mindset and leading you through processes that can lead to permanent and life enhancing insights. With a background in counselling skills and my use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, my coaching style is more therapeutic than some, and I will be able to support you in healing and addressing your pain as well as moving forwards in life.
I truly believe in the value we all have to offer, and in giving you the skills and support to challenge your tendency to shrink, encouraging you to be bold and truly show up and be present to the life in front of you, knowing you have the capacity to create something new. By relating to ourselves differently, we can develop the willingness to go beyond our boundaries into a life rich with meaning and purpose; one that we don’t regret.
I aim to practice on a deeply human level, integrating the spiritual approaches and meditation practice if it suits you, and always maintaining a sense of humanity, openness and integrity. Have a look at my blog if you want to find out more about me and how I work, or contact me for an informal chat.
Is it confidential?
Everything you say to me is confidential, though there may be times when I need to share information where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or another person or where I am legally obliged to do so. The coaching contract that you complete when you sign up has more information on this, or you are welcome to give me a call to discuss any concerns before booking a session.
I’m a musician/performing/creative artist – how can you help me?
I have a personal interest in the arts, with a degree in English and a passion for music. I play guitar and am the co-author of The Guitarist’s Solo and Songwriting Companion. I am personally very interested in how we learn, how we can tap into creativity and how we can overcome anxiety to perform at our best.
I have been lucky enough to combine my personal interest with my professional coaching by undertaking training at University College London in Performing Arts Medicine. I understand the needs and struggles of an artist and am well equipped to assist with coaching for peak performance as well as helping you to unlock your creativity or break through the walls that artists often face.
I’m a university student – how can you help me?
I have worked and/or studied at seven different universities, so I have a lot of insight into the student journey and the pressures you face as a student. Having worked in wellbeing in three of these universities, I have extensive experience of helping students to manage stress, organise their workload, learn skills to manage anxiety, break cycles of perfectionism or procrastination, overcome shyness and social anxiety and turn their time around at university.
As a former manager of a Student Wellbeing service within the NHS, I have a very good understanding of what resources are available on the NHS and what you may be able to access at your university, so can help you plan your best options to get the support you need. I will do this with your best interests at heart to help you save money and get the help you need using the resources available to you.
I am unable to see students from the University of Portsmouth, as I am currently employed there as Senior Wellbeing Advisor.
Booking and availability
I see face to face clients in rooms in Oxford Street and in Bursledon, Southampton, typically on a Friday though other times are available. I have additional flexibility for online and phone sessions and have shared intense experiences with clients from all over the world, from the USA to New Zealand.
I work with you holistically and because my offering is so varied, every coaching package I create is entirely unique and tailored for you to suit your budget and your needs.
If you are committed to the journey, I am committed to you.
